School body meets Christian parents

Christian parents meet at Don Bosco Park Circus

KOLKATA, (C.M. Paul) – Don Bosco School Park Circus had the annual start of the academic year meeting with the parents of Catholic and Christian students, on Bengali New Year day14th April. Some 300 parents turned up to share the concerns of the teachers and management to see how best both the school and family could provide support for students. The meeting which lasted about 90 minutes had the principal, vice principal and teacher representatives of both high school and junior section share their concerns.

Speaking at the event were also neighbouring parish priests namely, Fr Orson Wells of Christ the King Church Park Circus and Fr K.K. Sebastian of Auxilium Church Gobra. (Parish priest of Fatima Church, another parish in the vicinity of the school which has scores of students studying in the school was absent).

Addressing the parents, senior vice-principal Fr V.T Jose insisted “they must ensure: daily family prayer and a conducive atmosphere for their children.” He insisted that “parents be role models for their children.”

Mr. Barry, a teacher representative of the senior section, underlined the need for children to have normalcy, routine and discipline in their life not only at school but also at home.

Mrs. Chatterton a teacher of the Junior school, encouraged parents to help children ‘to lead from the front’ taking advantage of the many privileges they get in the school.

Fr Orson told parents to encourage their children to take part in the parish activities, like visiting Mother Teresa’s Home for the handicapped which he does every Thursday, or visitingSt Joseph’s Home for senior citizens every Sunday.

Fr K.K. Sebastian who has over 100 students form his parish studying in the school pleaded for greater participation in church attendance and activities.

School Bursar Fr K.A. Raphael talked about several scholarship facilities available for Christian students both from the Government and from School.
