KOLKATA, (C.M. Paul) – A former news reporter for the Rome based International Salesian News Agency (ANS) is among “Experts and Auditors” for the forthcoming synod of bishops due to be held in the Vatican from 7 to 28 October.
The ANS reporter responsible for news coverage of the two Salesian provinces in the Philippines during 1993-1996 period Fr Renato de Guzman is 55th among 95 experts and auditors listed by the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops with the approval of the Supreme Pontiff and in accordance with the provisions of “Ordo Synodi Episcoprum.”
Fr De Guzman is appointed as “Adiutores Secretarii Specialis” (or Experts) for the forthcoming Thirteenth Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme: “The new evangelisation for the transmission of the Christian faith.”
Affectionately called Fr Degz, he is currently chief assistant for pastoral care of the Grade School and High School Departments, Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati City (Philippines).
Fr De Guzman is also an Advisory Board member of the central catechetical agency of the Philippines, the national level the ECCCE (Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education).
