Salesian Social Communication Councilor arrives in Kolkata

KALYANI, (C.M. Paul) — The Salesian General Councilor for Social Communication Fr Filiberto Gonzalez arrived in Kolkata, Friday morning 9th November. It is the first time that the Mexican born superior who took office in Rome, April 2008 visits Kolkata.

During a five day-trip to Kolkata province Fr Gonzalez will meet with South Asia provincial in-charge of Social Communication (Fr Thomas Ellicherail) as well as South Asia delegate for Social Communication (Anthony Erathara) on Friday morning. In the afternoon, he will visit Don Bosco School Park Circus, Blessed Teresa’s Tomb and Ashalayam home for street children.

After dinner at Provincial House, Fr Gonzalez will board Podatik Super Fast train for an overnight journey to meet with North Bengal Salesians at Salesian College Siliguri on Saturday. In the afternoon Fr Gonsalez will proceed to Salesian College Sonada.

On Sunday, he will visit Salesian parish at Sonda and make a dash to Darjeeling and return to Siliguri to meet with the Salesian novices before boarding night train Darjeeling Mail to Kolkata.

On Monday (12 Nov) Fr Gonzalez meets with the Social Communication Commission of the province and will be briefed on the Church Communications Indian scenario by Signis national president Mr Sunil Lucas. In the afternoon he will visit the first church run Social Communication center set up in Eastern India, Chitrabani – Jesuit Social Communication Centre and will interact with Chitrabani founder director and the guru of Indian Cinema theory Fr Gaston Roberge SJ. He will conclude the day with a visit to Axilium parish church in Don Bosco’s dream city Calcutta.

On Tuesday, Fr Gonzalez is scheduled to visit Don Bosco Liluah celebrating its platinum jubilee, Self Employment Project at Mirpara, Marian shrine Bandel, Don Bosco Kalyani, and Salesian Sisters Provincial House at Dum Dum.

Wednesday morning Fr Gonzalez leaves for Agartala (Tripura), Silchar province.
