Pune Don Bosco VP arrested for alleged molestation

francisPUNE, Zeenews: In yet another shocking incident, the vice-principal of Don Bosco School was on Tuesday (22 Jan) arrested for allegedly molesting a school student.

Vice-principal Iju Francis Falkau, 54, had called the 14-year-old girl, in his office on January 2 around 1 PM when he allegedly molested her, police said.

Don Bosco is one of the most prestigious academic institutions of Pune, and such an incident is sure to elevate the current paranoia about sexual vulnerability in the country. Based on a complaint, a case was booked against the accused yesterday under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 511 of the IPC and subsequently he was arrested today, they said.

Soon after the news spread, the incident triggered public protest and several political workers also gathered outside the school demanding the immediate arrest of the vice principal.

  1. Salesian Father Igidius Falcao, 61, appeared before the local court in Pune on Tuesday (22 Jan) morning. He is being charged under various criminal sections for outraging the modesty of a woman and attempted rape. The case will come up for hearing on 25th January.

Smoldering fire cannot be covered by ashes for ever.It is high time that the authorities realized it.These tendencies have been covered and even protected for structural up-keep, far too long by the Catholic Church.I as a religious priest have been told on my face by the authorities on three occasions to mind my business and live my life, and was even victimized for having courageously confronted individuals ( holding high responsibilities) with these tendencies and demanded action on the part of the then authorities. So disgusting were some of the situations, too delicate to discuss in a forum like this. It is good to realize that we religious and priests are just tolerated these days by the laity at large.Gone are the days of great respect and esteem for priesthood and religious life.No wonder vocations are dwindling.Thank God, the structure is still surviving on the deep spirituality of a few convinced religious and priests.

We believe that Fr. Falcao has been deliberately framed by some people with vested interests. He is such a disciplinarion blended with his dedication to help youth to be good citizens of this country. Don Bosco Fathers follow the path of their Founder, Don Bosco who dedicated his life
    for youth. Truth will prevail.

Truth will prevail. It is just a matter of time.have patience.
