GUWAHATI, (C.M. Paul) — The Assam Don Bosco University’s Christian Students Forum kept its fresher’s social on Sunday 18 August 2013. The three hour function organized by the senior students consisted of songs and dances, musical drama and selection of the Miss & Mr. Sunshine.
“When this first Catholic University in India started (in 2008) we had only 10 Christian students. Today after five years we are about 250 Christian students,” recalled ADBU Controller of Examinations Dr VA Cyriac in his opening words welcoming all to fresher’s social.
“The CSF is not only to uphold our Christian identity, but also to set an example,” said MCA 3rd semester student Judy Antionette in her welcome speech reminding all the purpose of the forum,
Giving a detailed activity report of CSF, Br Anbarasam B. of Civil Engineering 3rd semester said, “the chief activity of CSF is helping students keep and nourish their Christian faith with opportunity for Sunday worship as well as weekday worship in the university chapel.
He also mentioned they could have Eucharistic celebration in homogeneous groups to mark special occasions as well as recollection day opportunity every semester. After Easter the CSF had a picnic to Tapesia Gardens, near Sonapur the future ADBU campus.
Guest artiste at the event Fr Robin Gomes not only played some popular numbers on guitar to the cheering crowd of youth but also handed away the prizes of Miss & Mr Sunshine to Laniewkor Khyllep and Reynaul Pasi.
Frs Francis Fernandez, Robin Gomes and Lijo were judges for Miss & Mr Sunshine event.
MSW 3rd semester students Elpius, Nadeen and Lavina anchored the three rounds of Miss and Mr Sunshine.
The anchors for CSF were Pynshailang Nongsiej and Jorisa Mary Chyne, 3rd semester EEE and 3rd semester CVE respectively.
The ADBU Campus Minister Fr Francis Fernandez and his team coordinated the fresher’s social.
